Tour Plan
After enjoying our breakfast, we will embark on a one-hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, which covers a distance of 22.3 kilometers, including the drive from Pokhara itself. During this journey, our porter will be there to assist you with carrying your bag for the Ghorepani Trekking adventure. Once we reach Nayapul, the true trekking experience begins.
After a brief walk, we will proceed to clear our entry permits with TAAN (Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal) and the Annapurna Conservation Area. Following that, we will navigate the dirt roads that lead us to Tikhedhunga. Although the noise of vehicles honking might be bothersome during peak times, the magnificent surroundings of nature will help you overlook the honks and dust.
The trail from Tikhedhunga to Ulleri presents a challenging uphill climb, requiring us to ascend a series of stairs for approximately one hour. Ulleri serves as an excellent choice for our stay, as it offers breathtaking views of Mt. Annapurna South, Mt. Heuchuli, and the beautiful Ulleri Gurung village.
Wake up to a delightful mountain breakfast around 7:00 am, where you can savor the flavors while being captivated by the breathtaking landscapes and the golden view of Mt. Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. To ensure a smooth start to your day, your breakfast order will be placed the night before, with a menu provided for you to choose from. During this time, your guide will provide a brief overview of the day’s plans.
Prepare for a scenic walk that takes you through lush forests, alongside streams, rivers, waterfalls, and charming local tea houses. As you make your way toward Banthanthi, you’ll be treated to glimpses of the majestic Mt. Fishtail. However, it is upon reaching Ghorepani that you will be awestruck by the sight of the towering giants, resembling colossal mushrooms (mountains).
If the weather is clear and you’re interested in witnessing the stunning sunset from Poonhill, a discussion with your guide is essential. The hike to Poonhill takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour from Ghorepani, so make sure to consult your guide regarding the feasibility and timing. Nevertheless, you are already set to experience a breathtaking sunrise the following morning.
Depending on the season, it is typically advisable to wake up early around 5:00 am for the sunrise and mountain view experience at Poon Hill. Your guide will inform you of the specific time. Accompanied by our guide, you will embark on a trek to Poon Hill, which involves traversing a series of stairs. If you have any knee-related issues, it is recommended to bring along hiking poles for assistance. The hike from Ghorepani to Poon Hill usually takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. Once at the summit, take in the awe-inspiring sunrise and marvel at the breathtaking vistas, including Mt. Fishtail, the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, the Tukuche peak, and the stunning landscapes.
After enjoying the sunrise, we will hike back to Ghorepani to have breakfast. Once breakfast is finished, our trek resumes as we make our way toward Tadapani. The initial section of the hike from Ghorepani to Deurali involves a slight uphill ascent, but afterward, the terrain becomes mostly flat and downhill. The final stretch before reaching Tadapani is uphill and typically takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. In Tadapani, you can relish the golden view of Annapurna South, Mt. Heuchuli, and Mt. Fishtail, offering a captivating sight to behold.
Today’s trail is relatively short and easier, allowing you to soak in the serene surroundings. Begin your day by enjoying the mesmerizing sunrise view from Tadapani before setting off toward Ghandruk Village. The journey from Tadapani to Ghandruk is particularly enchanting during springtime when vibrant flowers adorn the path. Ghandruk Village itself is a sizable settlement of the Gurung community.
The trail to Ghandruk offers a mix of flat and downhill sections, ensuring an easy and pleasant walk. Upon reaching Ghandruk, we will have a delightful lunch in the village. In the evening, take the opportunity to visit the Gurung Museum and embark on a short village walk, immersing yourself in the local culture and traditions. This will be your last night in the mountain village, providing a chance to truly savor the experience. Throughout your stay, the majestic peaks of Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Heuchuli will continuously captivate you with their radiance.
If you are interested in experiencing a homestay with a local family, it is advisable to consult with your guide. They can provide guidance on arranging such an experience, where you can have the opportunity to cook and engage with the locals in their traditional kitchen.
Today marks the final day of the Ghorepani Poon Hill circuit trek, culminating at Banthanti (Annapurna Conservation check post). Following breakfast, we will proceed by passing through Ghandruk village, traversing both original trekking trails and dirt roads that run alongside the rivers, leading us to Nayapul. While most of today’s route consists of shorter trekking trails, they are frequently interconnected with the roads. The path will be primarily downhill until Syauli Bazaar, and from there, it will be mostly flat until Nayapul.
If you prefer to avoid the dusty trail, you have the option to catch a vehicle from Sinwa or anywhere along the way. After completing the trek and checking post formalities, we will drive back to Pokhara. Our guide will accompany you to your hostel, where it will be time to bid farewell. Shake hands with your guide and porter, expressing gratitude for their assistance throughout the journey. If you require any further assistance or support, please feel free to ask either the guide or the tour officer. They will be more than willing to help.
